AREA AGENCY ON AGING-SENIOR SERVICES Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is a public agency funded by the state through the Older Americans Act to meet needs of elderly citizens. The AAA serves citizens aged 60 or older, with assistance from the state department of health and human services and is designed to enhance the quality of life for older adults and their families by providing information and assistance about various services in local communities
What does AAA provide? AAA’s support and coordinate a number of home and community based supportive and nutrition services, as well as services for family caregivers. These services are provided in cooperation with requirements put in place by the Older Americans Act. Specific services funded through Grand Gateway Area Agency on Aging included Information and Assistance, Long Term Care Ombudsmen, Caregiver Training and Respite, Homemaker Chore Services, Pelivan Transit Transportation, Legal Aid, Nutrition Programs and Health Promotion and Medication Management. The only requirement for participation is that the citizen be age 60 or over. Grand Gateway AAA serves a seven county area, including Craig, Delaware, Rogers, Nowata, Ottawa, Mayes and Washington. Grand Gateway Area Agency on Aging funding is provided by the Older Americans Act, Oklahoma Department of Human Services and local sources. |
