Choosing a Nursing Home
OMBUDSMAN VOLUNTEER
Sometimes long-term care residents need someone to help them speak up for their rights. The Long Term Care Ombudsman trains volunteers to advocate for these residents, providing a vital link to quality of life in long-term care facilities.
Ombudsman Volunteer qualifications:
- Commitment, Resourcefulness, and Objectivity
- Attend a two-day initial training
- Attend monthly meetings
- Visit residents at least 2 hours a week
- Submit monthly reports
- Work to resolve problems
- Empower Residents
- Free from conflicts of interest
