Choosing a Nursing Home

DEFINITION OF OMUDSMAN

The Ombudsman program serves residents throughout the Northeast Counties of Oklahoma, including nursing homes, assisted living and residential care homes. An Ombudsman helps improve the quality of life and the quality of care available to the residents.

A long-term care ombudsman is a person who receives telephone calls from:

  • Residents of long-term care facilities
  • Friends or relatives
  • Facility staff or Administrator
  • Anonymous caller
  • Guardian

The Ombudsman attempts to resolve problems/concerns within the facility. The Ombudsman has the authority to explore problems and recommend correction action.
